The Centre is on a 50 years lease by Peterborough City Council to the Peterborough Football Association. The vision of a centre of excellence for Association football and Community use is the inspiration and endevour of Derek Vernum whose hard work of turning the grassed area from regular standard club pitches to the best football pitches in Peterborough was recognisedby the Football Association when they awarded him the groundsman of the year award in 2005. The management of the centre is the responsibility of 3 trustees who with the aid of a management commitee of stakeholder partners, ensure that the centre is at the heart of the community. The centre has a groundsman and small band of casual assistants. The PFA Youth & Community Centre also currently hosts an office for the Northamptonshire Football Association. This offers clubs in Peterborough a local office for them to attend, and is used a first port of call for all services administrated by Northamptonshire Football Association. Local clubs in Peterborough can receive various NFA services at the Peterborough office including:
The office is also used as a base for promoting football development in the Peterborough area, with the office advising local clubs on all football development programmes, including Charter Standard Award, Funding Opportunities, Futsal, Small Sided Football, and Women’s and Girls football. The office also ensures that football development programmes are delivered in the Peterborough area, and in the past 12 months, the NFA have worked closely with Charter Standard clubs and local primary schools to deliver 3 lions courses for young players of all abilities, school holiday courses, and also FA coaching courses.
